The Ethics of Being Screwed Up

Visionaries,

No, Jon has not quite gotten it yet. The point is not that since lots of people are screwed up, it is okay to be screwed up. The point is that if there is no such thing as being screwed up, it is okay to be screwed up.

If there are no absolutes, then anything goes, including the worse forms of absolutism. Lynching homosexuals is the preference of some, and above them, only sky. Imagine there’s no heaven. But if there are absolutes, then what are they and why? And yes, that’s logic. Not to some people’s taste though.

Cordially,

Douglas Wilson

Apologetics in the Void” are repostings from an on-going electronic discussion and debate I had some time ago with members of our local community, whose names I have changed. The list serve is called Vision 20/20, and hence the name “visionaries.” Reading just these posts probably feels like listening to one half of a phone conversation, but I don’t feel at liberty to publish what others have written. But I have been editing these posts (lightly) with intelligibility in mind.
