Dear visionaries,
In response to Erica, I was perfectly happy when we had no ordinance prohibiting toplessness. And I would be more than happy to go back there again. In fact, I would be delighted to propose that we ditch the ordinance. Will you all try to be tolerant and respectful of others this time?
With regard to the breast-feeding argument, I speak as a father of three, and grandfather of four. [That was at the time of writing. Now there are 17.] All of these descendants were (or are being, perhaps as we speak) breast-fed, and some of them, until weaned, had feelings toward their mother’s breasts that bordered on the religious. Breast-feeding is one of the coolest things God ever thought up. Are my credentials okay? And yet, I am afraid that I have to report that breast-feeding can be accomplished in public settings in a relaxed and modest way.
I would offer more arguments, but Susanne would just put them in the corner for a time-out.
“Apologetics in the Void” are repostings from an on-going electronic discussion and debate I had some time ago with members of our local community, whose names I have changed. The list serve is called Vision 20/20, and hence the name “visionaries.” Reading just these posts probably feels like listening to one half of a phone conversation, but I don’t feel at liberty to publish what others have written. But I have been editing these posts (lightly) with intelligibility in mind.
