As a result of a reporter setting up an interview with me, I found out that The American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, as part of their sponsorship of banned books week, has listed Southern Slavery As It Was as one of the books that was “challenged” by the censorious this last year. Their little blurb on it can only be described as quite a fair-minded statement about the dust-up at Cary Christian in North Carolina.

Of course, as I made clear to the reporter, when we found out about the footnote problems in the booklet, I went to Canon Press immediately and asked myself that the booklet be banned. But I was doing this for good and noble reasons, and not the normal intolerista reasons. But this puts me in an interesting position of being simultaneously banned and banner. But I corrected that discrepancy by releasing Black and Tan later, which, if my luck holds, will wind up on a future list of banned books.

So, there it is. Many thanks to all the local people here who helped make this honor a possibility.
