A Legit Appeal
I am passing on an appeal from some friends in Eastern Europe. The work being done there is heroic, so if you have room to give, please consider it.
Dear Fathers and Brothers,
Last week, Bogumil Jarmulak, Attila Hajdu, Andrew Richardson, and Garry Vanderveen had the opportunity to meet with most of our CREC pastors in Ukraine. Unfortunately, two pastors were unable to attend due to their being drafted into the armed forces.
The situation continues to grow dire, and unless the Lord intervenes, our brethren will find themselves in desperate circumstances this fall, and acute need come winter. Already, the saints of our Ukrainian churches are enduring power outages lasting 12-18 hours a day, even as fuel and food prices rise steadily. We anticipate further deterioration in the coming months, especially as winter approaches. Without electricity, necessary for heating, it will be nearly impossible to gather for worship or for pastors to prepare sermons.
After talking with the pastors, we have concluded that we need to raise $170,000 as soon as possible for power stations and generators, food, and fuel for our Ukrainian brethren. Hopefully we can raise these funds before winter and the prices skyrocket. Please note that these funds are necessary for the CREC churches and their members alone and will not be used for their diaconal ministries to the broader communities.
Brothers, we are reminded of the grace of God that was given to the churches in Macedonia (2 Corinthians 8:1-5), and we trust that by the grace of the Holy Spirit, Christ Jesus will move us to give above our means for the relief of the saints in Ukraine during their severe test of affliction.
This is a critical time for our brethren, and your generous support can make a significant difference. We appeal to your compassion and solidarity with our suffering brothers and sisters. Your contributions will help provide essential resources and bring hope and relief to those in desperate need.
These needs are specific to the conflict, which the saints of our church did not cause, and separate from our annual general fund needs. These are above and beyond our normal ministry support.

The Battle of the Decade – State Abortion Amendments this November
After the overturn of Roe v Wade, the radical left has adopted an aggressive strategy to legalize abortion in numerous states via constitutional ballot initiatives requiring a simple majority vote.
Seven Red States will have abortion on the ballot this November— Florida, Arkansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Arizona, South Dakota, and Montana (more may be coming).
Understand this—we have lost EVERY SINGLE TIME abortion has been on the ballot! If we don’t do something different, we WILL LOSE these fights too.
We will be left with a country with two pro-abortion parties. And the slaughter of preborn children will continue in every state.
This is a watershed for the nation. The trajectory of win or loss in these states will affect a generation. Many are grieved that the Republican party is moving away from social issues. The best response to their cowardice is to show we can win at the ballot box on this issue.
The good news is that these red states still have a majority of conservatives and a faithful remnant of Christians. We CAN win. For our children and our grandchildren’s future and by God’s grace, we MUST win.
We have a church mobilization plan that can stem the tide of this evil. When local churches step up and take action in their communities revival and reformation ensue.

That’s what happens when people are able to vote on this issue, because “currently, 63% say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, while 36% say it should be illegal in all or most cases,” and even 41% of Republicans agree with the majority [Pew Research Center]. So you want to “do something different” because you know the only way to impose your archaic views on society is by not allowing people to vote. That’s deeply weird and extremely un-American.
You seem to assume that Storms wants to disenfranchise voters. Perhaps the “do something different” is a recommendation to better educate voters about the horrors of abortion procedures and the value of human life. I can’t think of anything more un-American than gruesomely slaughtering baby Americans.
Sure, do more to sway people to your way of thinking, there’s nothing at all wrong with that. Unfortunately for you, the data proves your side is doing a very poor job of it, and has been for many years. So yes, by all means, keep trying to convince the growing majority of Americans that they’re wrong, and with your inept assistance the trend lines will continue in the direction of bodily autonomy for women. Unlike the Pew Research Center, Statista is not a primary source. Your data is also in response to a significantly different, oversimplified question. Regardless, 15 to 5 with one tie in 21 years? I’ll stand by my statement. And I’m not trying to demoralize you, I’m merely quoting someone on your side who sees the writing on the wall and appears to be in a bit of a justifiable panic. One more time for those in the cheap seats: “We have lost EVERY SINGLE TIME abortion has been on the ballot.”
Statista’s source is Gallup, which is a primary source. So what if the question is “oversimplified”? The answers tell us broadly what’s going on with Americans, and nowhere in that twenty year period — save for three — was there ever a “pro-choice” majority, let alone a “growing” one. Additionally, Gallup’s question “Do you think abortions should be legal only under certain circumstances?” has been the majority opinion from 1975 to present day, with few exceptions. Their question, “legal under any circumstances”, similar to yours above with Pew, has never been the majority opinion — it hasn’t even cracked 40%.… Read more »

So what, Krissy? If you were so confident that everyone agrees with you about dismembering babies, then you wouldn’t have run screaming to your mommy (who was pro-life when it came to spawning you) when the Supreme Court merely put it back to the states.
Besides, there’s always the option of getting a court to overturn these ballot measures. After all, it works so well for you whenever you don’t get your way at the ballot box.
Paul, yes, the majority of Americans, even in red states, do not support a total abortion ban. That is unfortunate as it is the logically consistent position. But, it is also true that when Americans see abortion, overwhelmingly they do not like it.
