Norman Rockwell and the Dark Side

Stacy McCain was kind enough to notice my criticism of his Rule 5. His response, such as it was, can be found here, and my initial comments, such as they were, can be found here.

His answer consisted of a “vintage pin-up girl.” You know the kind — what looks like what could have been painted by Norman Rockwell if he had ever gone over to the dark side.

And my response doesn’t have to be very detailed — I was not talking about the décolletage of almost-wholesome fifties girls. I was talking about the porn and quasi-porn that Stacy links to in pursuit of his Rule 5 traffic. I won’t link to any proofs, but he should know what I am talking about.

Another thing was in the back of my mind in my first post, but I should have stated it overtly. Call this point Rule 5 blowback. I mentioned the fact that this kind of thing attracts the baser element. The blowback point can be seen in the fact that it repels the kind of people he should not really want to be repelling — oh, say, Rick Santorum’s wife, for one possible example.

There are people who would be interested in the political reporting and analysis that Stacy offers, but who get tired of being booby trapped. I used to have McCain’s site bookmarked but gave up on that after a little bit. Not worth it. Just call me a Rule 5 casualty.
