“The person weighing these things must know that there is no publication called All Reputable Historians’ Review. Acceptance of what one certified historian states entails rejection of what another certified historian says. This is not the path to relativism, but is rather an acceptance of what the Christian faith plainly teaches us. Men are sinners, and this includes the historians. A Christian study of history must include the realization that men have a universal propensity to justify themselves. This recognition should issue no waivers, meaning that the historians themselves are included in it. Not only so, but we shoud be particularly skeptical of history as written by the victors” (Black and Tan, p. 67).
