Minister: Lift up your hearts!
Congregation: We lift them up to the Lord!
Our God and Lord, we come into Your presence in order to glorify and worship Your name. We know that we have no ability to do so in our own right, and so we seek to praise You through the name of Jesus Christ, Your eternal Son.
You are the God of all gods, the Lord of all lords. You reign over the kings of the earth, whatever they call themselves—kings, presidents, presidents-for-life, supreme rulers, voice of the people, congresses, parliaments, and general consensus. All authority has been entrusted to Your Son, our Lord, the Lord Jesus, and so we worship You now.
You are the ultimate wisdom, and Your wisdom makes philosophers and theologians bow their heads in embarrassment and shame. You know more about one square foot of earth than all our race knows about everthing. Your wisdom is infinite; where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age?
You are the One who would be known by man, and who has made a way of access for us. We bow down in gratitude because of the invitation You have given to us, and we gladly accept it, and we do so in the name of Jesus.
And so, gracious Father, we worship You now through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end, amen
