How are we to read and understand the parables of Jesus?

What this small book seeks to do is to point to the guidance that was provided by the Lord Himself. First, all the parables of the Lord are recorded here in the language of an updated King James. Where the parable is told in more than one place, they are combined into one parable. They are then assembled in three basic categories. The first would be those parables where the Lord gave us the detailed meaning of the parable, saying something like “if you don’t understand the meaning of the sower, how then will you understand any parable?” Then we come those parables where a passing comment is made as to the meaning. And then third are the parables where there is no commentary at all.

The point is to help Christians read through the parables with true understanding.
