“At thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Ps. 16: 11)
The Basket Case Chronicles #19
“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual” (1 Cor. 2:13).
The difficulty here is that we often rush to assume what these “spiritual things” might be, and we fill up the content of that category with nice thoughts of observing the Golden Rule, or attending Sunday School regularly, or reviewing your Bible memory verses. But what Paul has been talking about is the future history of the world, and the overthrow of all carnality in the running of it. It is true that the logic of the Holy Spirit does not make sense to the natural man (v. 14), even in the details of life. But the reason it does not make sense is because the blueprints the Holy Spirit has drafted for the 23rd century don’t make sense to him. Remember that Paul has just told us that eye has not seen, ear has not heard, and the heart has not contemplated, how good God will make that future for those who love him.
