“At thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Ps. 16: 11)
The Basket Case Chronicles #15
“Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” (1 Cor. 2:6-8).
Paul has been telling us that God’s folly is wiser than man’s wisdom. He then comes to give us the prize example. Paul speaks wisdom among the believers, among those who have been brought to mature perfection. This hidden wisdom is not hidden now, but was rather hidden throughout the course of the Judaic aeon. Now it is revealed; Paul says that “we speak the wisdom of God.” God had ordained it before the world was made, and had hidden it throughout the course of the world’s history before Christ. The princes of this world (the fleshly princelings, and the spiritual forces behind them) did not know what was coming. If they had known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory—for it was that crucifixion that brought their power down to zero.
Who says that God lacks the wisdom to bring good out of evil? Take the most grotesque murder in the history of the world—what could God possibly do with that? Well, what He did was save the world with it.
