Sorry, this will have to be brief.
We flew down to Philadelphia from New York early this afternoon — which we did in a helichopper. That was fun. Took about a hour, with a short delay caused by circling the Statue of Liberty once. We covered the ground at about 1500 feet, and once of the most striking things about the trip is that I saw a couple hundred baseball diamonds on the way down. Flew right past Princeton.
After we checked in and took a hour or two off, we were off to the area of Westminster Seminary. We met at a restaurant there, and were hosted by Dr. Scott Oliphint, the professor of apologetics at Westminster, his lovely wife, and his son. Really fine people, and gracious hospitality. After we ate, we scooted over to Westminster, where the hall was filled with thoughtful and intelligent students. Christopher and I both remarked in the car afterwards that the questions were well framed and cogently assembled.
We had more time than in the previous encounter, and so we got more done — but also left more ends hanging undone. I hope to address some of those in DC tomorrow, which we attempt to reach by train, at Christopher’s fine suggestion.
After the event at Westminster, we signed books for a bit, I saw some old friends, met someone who follows this blog regularly (hi, Valerie), and had a general good time. After that, some of the seminarians wanted to take Christopher out for a drink, which he wanted also, and so a pack of us headed out to an area pub. A good part of the friendly discussion continued there (and yes, it is on the tape).
Thank you much for your prayers. More tomorrow.
