All our Christmas gifts are also a celebration of that great gift that was given to us. We celebrate the Incarnation—the prerequisite gift that enabled God to give us the even greater gift of the crucifixion and resurrection. Jesus was born to die, and all of this—birth, life, death, resurrection and ascension—was given for us men and for our salvation.

And While We’re On the Subject . . .

In light of all the interest my conversation with James White generated, someone on Twitter suggested I post the chapter on justification from my book Westminster Systematics — my commentary on the Westminster Confession. Good idea, thought I, and so here it is. And here is a link to the book itself, if you are interested.

And because I don’t know how to leave well enough alone, below you can find my rendering of the Westminster Confession into verse. Only a dollar. Can you believe it is only a dollar? I’m with you. I still don’t understand the points of disagreement and/or why Federal Vision is “wrong”. The more I look into it, the more confused I become. But I believe Pastor Doug is a honest saint who deserves better than the unkind criticisms of his detractors.

True confession: I’ve never read the WCF all the way through…except for Doug’s versification. Copyediting that forced me to refer often to the original, which made me wish for a time machine to go back and offer my services to the authors that it might have been made more comprehensible from the get-go!
