This is Okay, But Let’s Not Let It Get Out of Hand . . .

A friend named Andy Thaxton was fooling around a bit, and then this happened.

The “Billionaire” economics of saving and spending is hardly understood by people who are not satisfied until they have the answers to every paradox and mystery of life and when they can’t figure it out, they turn critical. Another example would be the age-old question, “How can a good God allow evil in the world?” In the absence of understanding (believing the Bible), the conclusion: “There is no God!” Another billionaire, even millionaire, advantage to the rest of us is the fact that when new and expensive products hit the market, think original computers, calculators and cordless phones, it’s the… Read more »

I think what struck me the most (no pun intended) about the “praise choruses” video, was that no one made any effort to help the drummer buried under the rubble. But all ‘worship’ bands certainly look and act the same.

I agree. Though I guess he made his bed, now he can sleep in it.

Well…at least the drummer didn’t spontaneously combust.

Was that a judgement on praise bands or just a judgement on drummers in general?

Drummers are totally fine…as long as they’re not in church. Stewart Copeland is a great example of common grace.

I disagree. God gave us music and commanded us to worship Him with music and song. Unless you have precluded that all worship is to be done a capella, then you allow for instrumentation. Drums are percussion instruments, as are xylophones and the piano (technically); drums are simply atonal vs. tonal. But with Psalm 150 (and others) giving instruction in the use of cymbals for praising God, we may conclude that at least some atonal instruments are allowable for our use in worship. I have heard all the arguments (I think), and I am convinced that the FULL range of… Read more »

That was an allusion to the movie “Spinal Tap,” which is a spoof of old school rock bands. In the movie–rated “R” by the way–the band went through a series of drummers, each of which spontaneously combusted during a fabulous drum solo. It’s a nod toward the infamously short life spans of rock drummers in the 1970s and 1980s.

I’m guessing no one else has seen that movie. Oh well…your life is no worse for it.

While I am not advancing that you are fooled by the argument (regarding billionaires), if they choose to keep it or disburse it is none of my business. The fundamental reality is that all of these ilk (statists) are not against billions; they just want to be the ones in control of them. Socialism is communism in the slow lane, and is populated by the same organized kleptocrats. In another iteration of my life there were reefers located for men to store their food. One individual was famous for rifling the contents of the reefers and was eventually challenged for… Read more »
