Learning to Say “My Gospel”

Pastor Toby Sumpter and Trinity Reformed Church recently hosted an evangelism conference, that by all accounts was quite good. Here is the outline of Toby’s talk.

It was bound to happen sooner or later…

We all know a musician who has a terrible internal metronome…sometimes, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Future Site of Logos School

A friend took this photo of Nancy and me at the celebration of new property for Logos School (thanks, Clint Hughes). Everything about the event was perfect, except for the weather. And the view.

Another Installment from Revelation

Laodicea is the one church of the seven churches of Asia where the Lord doesn’t mention one positive thing about them, or indicate that there is any faithful remnant among them. And yet He loves them regardless. More here.

The Attack of the SJWs

I don’t buy everything here, but a lot of shrewd wisdom went into this nonetheless.

The violin guy is amazing.

And the weather looks like it was great.

And apparently Hillary’s shimmy is more important than the national debt. Per the talking heads.

Uh-oh.

Doug’s praising an article by Vox Day, a leading alt-righter, and, in the minds of most people, a racist.

ME will probably have a heart attack.

Hey, ME, instead of getting upset, just say that Doug wrote this “sarcastically.”

LMAO

In the SJW article, is point 7 (Make the Rubble Bounce) part of what you disagree with? Is that approach of sabatage appropriate for Christians?

This was my objection when I read the book. Jesus says that the sons of this world are more shrewd than the sons of the light. I take our we need to be more shrewd. Even so, there are some tools of the devil we just can’t use. While we don’t need to help a wicked man keep his job and destroy others, we do need to love our enemies and do good to those who hate us. And we forgive even those who haven’t asked us to.

My apologies to jilly and BJ for going off on them last night.

A family member (BIL) just got some devastating health news a couple days ago, and things have not been good here.

I shouldn’t have been posting in these circumstances.

Sorry.

Toby’s article is excellent. I enjoy testimonies where God rescues men from the gates of Hades. But I also love the stories of men who have been raised to love our Lord from the cradle. And the expression of grace can be quite distinct. It is true that God often used men in areas they have faced. Ex-alcoholics, etc. Still, it can take some time and wisdom to have a biblical view on the issue and reject false beliefs. Not every ex-sinner who wants to be a counsellor should be one. And the grace in those who loved Jesus from… Read more »

My daughter, who is aware of how dark some activities are, finds a large number of people confide these issues with her because of the grace of God in her unusual maturity, depth of compassion, and strict confidentiality.

I have many times thought that I would gladly trade my somewhat dramatic testimony for having loved Him from the beginning. It’s a no brainer, and I think nearly everyone who was called later in life would agree. Those who grew up in the Covenant have nothing to be embarrassed about. Frankly, I’m profoundly grateful for them.

On “The Attack of the SJWs,” this really is very good. My question is this; did the SJWs learn how to do this from pastors, or was it the other way around?
