At Your Post

Sharing Options

In a time like ours, when everything seems in disarray and out of joint, many individual Christians wonder what they can do. Not only is the world outside corrupt, the world within the church seems hopelessly compromised. Faithful Christians tend to alternate between “not thinking about it” and chafing under the futility of not having anything they can do. But there is always something we can do. We can stay at our post.

When your master comes again and finds you, the rest of the servants’ quarters may be completely out of control. As he walks through his estate, may he find you right where he left you, doing your job. Others may have deserted. Others may have taken off. Others may be carousing. But you are there.

““Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes” (Matt. 24:45–46, ESV).

And an essential part of staying at your post is to worship the Lord every Lord’s Day. This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

John 3
19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

A big part of staying at our post is Prayer, which is sorely needed this week, especially for AG Sessions. The silver lining in all this discord is that it drives Christians to prayer. Even though many don’t know what is going down, they are praying which is the MOST important thing we can do.

Faithfulness. I’ve learned that that is our lowest common denominator of requirements as children of God. Regardless of the outcome, the challenge is to be faithful to the Lord.
