Hostility and Discrimination

In the alternative universe of some, mere assertion substitutes for argument. An assertion that Christ Church, NSA, and other ministries, should start “obeying the law,” is enough to persuade a certain kind of mind that we must not have been obeying the law. But of course, in a sober kind of universe, this kind of thing needs to be shown, not merely yelled. Nevertheless, for those who have an emotional need to believe that we are guilty of Misconduct, the sound of their own accusations is sufficient to make the case for them.

And so, in response to what I have been posting about the diversity cleansing that has been taking place in Moscow, various denials and evasions have been heard from the predictable quarters. But this is not a debate with those who don’t know how to debate, who don’t know what facts are, and who are motivated by simple animus. Rather, this is a public statement, for the sake of the Latah County commissioners, who have a responsibility to take note of what is actually going on. And in this situation, our adversaries have actually done their level best to help us out. Fortunately, because the campaign against our various ministries has been more a function of spleen than mind, and has been conducted over a period of several years, that venting of spleen is now a matter of very public record. The Latah County commissioners have an obligation to apply the law judiciously and even-handedly, which in this case means that they must make themselves aware of that public record. They must make a decision that applies equally to all non-profits in their jurisdiction. They are being asked to make a decision about a select number of non-profits, those that have something to do with me. That the charges are motivated by ideological animus against conservative Christians is no secret. This is not something I have asserted; this is something that the women bringing the complaint have asserted countless times in numerous ways. To which they now need to reply (although they can’t, really), nuh uh. To which I say, “I am not talking to you.”

I am speaking with the Latah County commissioners in mind. The Intoleristas’ selectivity and distaste is something they have every right to express. What they do not have the right to ask, and what the commissioners do not have the right to grant even if they do ask, is to have their private hostility made into public discrimination. To do so would not just be an injustice, it would be an expensive blunder.
