As a Minnesotan who regards with suspicion all bordering states, I’m sad to say it is. ;)

As a Minnesotan who regards with suspicion the far edges of the country, I stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our brothers and sisters in fly-over country.
Except Iowa.
But only when Iowans are armed with automobiles. Otherwise, we are of one accord. And, no I don’t mean Honda Accords.

My wife and I have lived in Louisiana, Arkansas, and currently, Missouri. Soon after we moved here I jokingly told her “I guess Iowa is next, huh?”

She did NOT think it was funny.

The writing was on the wall with Ventura, but we totally jumped the shark with Al (What can you do for me?) Franken. Coleman and Pawlenty were Minnesotan Republicans–cute in their own way, but each more of a token acknowledgement that conservatism was… Read more »

Eh. I think it’s not quite as terrible as that, but it’s definitely a state where the liberals got their hooks in early and haven’t let go. :(

Kinda like the faux pas of Trump bringing up Joe Paterno in Pittsburgh recently. If you are aware of the current situation of politics and Pennsylvania college sports, you realize how much of a gaffe that was. He managed to offend Pitt fans, Penn State fans, and Penn State haters, all in one small sentence. In other words, two thirds of the state were scratching their heads and/or ticked off.
