In a Second Gutenberg Era

Sharing Options

Well, here at the end of April, year of our Lord, 2008, this blog is now four-years-old. So watch out everybody — we’re about to move into preschool.

Seriously, many thanks to all of you who drop by to visit. Over the course of a month, the average number of distinct visitors is pretty robust. I have been playing around with google analytics, and I am informed that 14,000 unique vistors now come by here over the course of a month. They come from all over the world — the United States, obviously, coming in first. But the second nation in traffic stats is the UK, with Canada coming in a close third. Within the States, the first ranked state is Idaho, the second Texas, the third California, and the fourth Washington. But there are still five east coast states in the top ten, so it is not just regional. I have been writing and publishing for twenty years, and while I don’t want to take anything away from magazines and books — there is still nothing like hard copy! — this means of publishing has been by far and away the most effective means of written communication. Thank God for this second Gutenberg era.

Not only that, but in the course of this last year, my wife Nancy has started blogging, and her blog is catching up fast. Over this last month, her blog hosted 4,583 unique visitors. That’s good stuff.

And just wait til we get to junior high. There will be lots of visits to the principal’s office then.
