Well, today Obama denounced remarks made by his incendiary preacher, and I must say I view this with a measure of alarm. Speaking for incendiary preachers everywhere, what kind of message does this send? What sort of chilling effect might it create? If a member of my congregation ever ran for president . . . jeepers.
I know, I could try to defend myself by claiming that the nutty things I say are true, unlike the views of the Rev. Wright, which is a cogent point, certainly. But true or false, when the charge is failing to grovel before the god of American civil religion, what kind of defense is that? Not much of one these days.
So the only comfort left for my conservative Republican friends is the exquisite spectacle of the Democrats heading for a cropper. But when these bemused viewers turn back to their own party, what is there to stir a conservative’s enthusiasm? HT: Right Mind. And if you need one, you can get it here.
