LMAO

Don’t get me started, Doug!

Naturally, anonymous Internet racists have no use for reason.

LMAO all over again.

Sister, I guess you haven’t notice that racist doesn’t quite put the fear of Mr. Goldberg into people like it used to.

Has that sponsored link been there before? Is it a new Disqus thing?

It just showed up today, so it looks like a new disqus thing.

Think so.

I wonder if Doug can turn them off. Some of the ads are especially unwelcome, like the one for, um, how do I put this … “Women’s Health”.

The one I saw was a woman “advertising” something else. ;-)

Happily, it disappeared, so it must have been a temporary glitch.

I seem to recall some French blokes who tried to make Reason an absolute. Didn’t turn out so great for them.

The problem wasn’t so much that reason was an absolute, it was their only absolute.

the peace of God which surpasses all understanding…

There are very good reasons for my faith, but my faith is not in Reason, it is in God.

God is absolute; Reason is a tool.

We err when we make Reason our God.

“For the foolishness of God is wiser than the “wisdom” of men, and the weakness of God, stronger than human strength”.
People can make an idol out of “reason”, yet reason is part of God’s absolute nature.????
Glad to see you back Tim!
I was worried .

Reason is an attribute of God, as are Love, Omnipotence,…

Pastor Wilson clarified with his “an absolute, not the absolute’ comment below.

An analogy would be the different infinite sets.

Mr Wilson, it’s too bad that you have allowed your antipathy to Trump to blind you to the truth of this meme.

The GOP is facing an existential crisis. If only Ronald Reagan were still alive. He and his astrologer would know how to restore Christian conservatism.

In some ways I am loathe to defend Doug here, as it looks lately like his dislike for Trump has upset his equilibrium.

BUT…

The meme simply says that reason should be AN absolute, not THE absolute. Philosophically, reason is grounded in the reality of a transcendent Creator God, and the critique seems to be more along the lines of attacking the deification of UNreasonableness, rather than elevating reason above God.

All, an absolute, not the absolute.

That makes sense, thanks.
