Small Beginnings

Minister: Lift up your hearts!
Congregation: We lift them up to the Lord!

Great God, heavenly Father, Lord of all that is, King of heaven and earth, we pray to You now in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son and our Lord.

You delight in manifesting Your glory in things that are small. You work through the day of small beginnings. You create the great oak through the small acorn. You brought each of us here into everlasting relationship with You, and yet our first moment was lived as a single cell. Your kingdom is like a small amount of leaven that was put into the loaf. It is like a mustard seed, not worthy of any consideration, but yet it grows according to Your purpose and plan.

We acknowledge that Your ways cannot be understood except by faith, and we delight in the fact that often that faith is small—and like everything else from Your hand, it grows. We rejoice in this, we exult in this. Father, we give glory to Your wisdom, and rejoice in how You stoop. Teach us to do the same, we pray.

And so, gracious Father, we worship You now through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end, amen

.
