Discarding the Word

Sharing Options

Father in Heaven, You are the Father of all forgiveness, and we come before You representing a nation that has ingloriously discarded Your Word with regard to the honor that is due our fathers and our mothers, and our grandfathers and grandmothers. Father, we have sought to build communities out of materials that You never intended to the be the basis of a community. We pray for forgiveness for our people, Lord. We have been so easily distracted . . . by peers, by social media, and by every fad that comes through. Forgive us for this, we pray.

We know, Father, that if we in the Church regard iniquity in our own midst, or in our own hearts, this prayer will be ineffectual.

Father, we confess that we have had a tendency to try to structure our churches in imitation of the world’s principles of gathering. But Father, we are those who have been called out by Your Spirit, and who have been called together in accordance with the principles of Your Word. Forgive us for our complicity in our nation’s covenantal confusions, we pray.
Father, we confess our own sins to You now—and Selah . . . We pray in the wonderful name of Jesus, and amen.

God loves mercy, and He loves you. He had heard what you have just said, and He has seen the integrity of your heart as you said. You have confessed your sins, and He has forgiven them. In the name of every gospel promise—I declare to you that your sins are forgiven through Christ.

Congregation: Thanks be to God!
